* Important Reminder: Effective with the 2012-13 academic year, TESP processing includes only the MTI Scholarship and Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois programs. Fiscal year 2012 (i.e., the 2011-12 academic year) was the final year that Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC) scholarships were awarded. Funding for the IFTC Program has been phased over to the Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois Program. Data Available to View An Initial Certification record is created in My Zone when a TESP Application is complete. A complete application and a complete and eligible certification record are required to be considered for an award. All Initial Certifications available in My Zone must be completed regardless of whether the school certifies a student as eligible or ineligible. The only way an MTI applicant will receive one of the Notification letters is if the Initial Certification is submitted via My Zone. Colleges can access current year TESP Certification or select a prior academic year in the drop-down box next to the TESP Certification link to access the historical view. The academic year in the drop-down box next to TESP Certification link defaults to the current academic year. The sections on this page include features of the current academic year Certification screens. The last section on this page addresses how to access information in the TESP Certification Historical View. When the TESP Certification link for the current academic year is selected from the My Zone Program Selection screen, the Student Certifications: List screen displays. The left margin includes Student Certifications and Reports. The Student Certifications: List screen displays all of the MTI and Golden Apple Scholarship (GAS) applicants, sorted by Social Security Number (SSN) in ascending order, for whom an Initial Certification record has been created for that school. An Initial Certification record is created when the student’s TESP or GAS application is complete. Click on the pencil icon in the Completed column to display the Student Certification Detail screen. A Filter and/or Sort function can be applied to the Student Certifications: List screen to customize how information is displayed. The Filter feature can be used alone or in conjunction with the Sort function. The Student Certifications: List screen can be printed using the “print” command in the browser but only what is displayed on the screen will print. There are six standard reports that can be viewed online, printed and/or saved in MS Excel format or PDF format. The following fields display on the Student Certifications: List screen.
The number of pages of the Student Certifications: List displays at the bottom of the screen. e.g., Displaying results: 1-20 (of 100)
The Filter function allows the user to designate what records are displayed on the Student Certifications: List screen. Once the Filter is applied to the data, only the resulting records meeting the Filter criteria will be displayed on the Student Certifications: List screen. Define the Filter criteria by selecting a Field Name, an Operator, and a Value. The Filter criteria can be defined for only one column at a time.
Filter Criteria
A sort can be applied to underlined columns in the Student Certifications: List or after a filter has been applied.
A Totals button, found at the bottom of the Student Certifications: List screen, launches a popup screen that summarizes the number of completed and outstanding certifications, as well as the number of certifications by program, at the college. This feature can be used to obtain cumulative totals, rather than scrolling through individual certifications and a large number of pages. The Totals popup screen contains the following data:
Each time the Totals feature is accessed; it will reflect the most current data available. Consequently, different values will be displayed if Totals are accessed at different points as a school works on certification records via My Zone. Printing the Student Certifications: List Screen To print the Student Certifications: List screen, select the <File> option from the toolbar in the browser. Depending on the setting for the desktop (PC) screen area display (e.g., 640X480 pixels), not all columns may appear on a single sheet of paper. Consequently, printing from the browser command will produce only what displays on the screen. Remember, you can print a full report in MS Excel or PDF. TESP Certification at My Zone includes six standard reports that can be accessed by selecting one of the titles under Reports from the left menu.
A description of each report (including required criterion, report layout, sort order and instructions on how to request a report) can be accessed on the Requesting a Report page. Certification Entry Instructions Refer to the Student Certification Entry Instructions for detailed instructions for completing and submitting a Certification record in My Zone. TESP Certification Historical View To access the certification information for a prior academic year, select the academic year in the drop-down box. When the TESP Certification link for a prior academic year is selected, the Student Certifications: Historical (academic year) List screen displays. Only students with complete certifications in the prior academic year will display on the screen. The left-hand menu of the Student Certifications: Historical (academic year) List screen is blank. Reports are not available in the Historical View. Click on the clock icon in the Completed column to display the Student Historical (academic year) Certification Detail screen. The data that displays (columns) for completed certifications and the sort and filter functions are the same as for the current year screens but in a "view only" mode. |
