A November 3, 2009 press release invites Illinois students (including first- through twelfth-graders) to participate in a statewide Internet safety contest, which is being sponsored jointly by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the Attorney General's Office, and the Governor’s Office. The goal of the Youth Internet Safety Contest is to raise awareness about the potential dangers of the Internet, as well as to prevent the misuse of technology. Participants may submit either a poster or electronic message (i.e., video, podcast or slideshow) addressing Internet safety. The specific focus for this year, which is the first time the contest has been held, is cyberbullying.
The press release, which includes a link to specific details (including rules, terms and conditions, and the contest timeline) is available at the ISBE Web site.
