Award Determination 2010-11 Qualification 2010-11 Certification 2010-11 Application - no longer accepted
Award Determination
2010-11 Teacher Education Scholarship Programs (TESP) awarding is anticipated to take place the week ending September 3, 2010, with colleges having the ability to access new eligible award information (including funded or unfunded status) online at My Zone the following business day.
Due to limited funding, IFTC and MTI Scholarship awards will initially be announced for renewal applicants only. If funds remain after awards have been announced for all qualified renewal applicants, new applicants would be considered.
A separate e-Message will be sent to announce when 2010-11 TESP award information is available at My Zone.
In order to ensure that applicants from your school are included when ISAC determines awards for the 2010-11 academic year, all Initial Certifications that are available at My Zone should be completed and submitted to ISAC as soon as possible. Only applicants with complete and eligible certification records will be considered for awards and will receive notification from ISAC (i.e., Notices of Eligibility - Funded and Notices of Eligibility - Unfunded).
All 2009-10 TESP Notifications data at My Zone will be archived one day prior to 2010-11 TESP awarding. Colleges are encouraged to generate all necessary 2009-10 TESP reports as soon as possible. Instructions for generating TESP reports are available within the Teacher Education Scholarship Programs (TESP) area of My Zone.
2010-11
Qualification
The 2010-11 Qualification process for TESP (Illinois Future Teacher Corp (IFTC), Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship and the Golden Apple Scholar programs) runs on a nightly basis throughout the award year. Be sure to access the TESP Student Certifications: List at My Zone regularly to learn the qualification status of applicants from your school.
If the college certified a student as eligible for an IFTC award, the Complete column will be checked and a status code of "Q" will display in the Status column on the Student Certifications: List in My Zone. Corrections cannot be made online at My Zone after an eligible record has been qualified. Requests to correct qualified records must be submitted to ISAC.
If the college certified a student as ineligible for an IFTC award, a Notice of Ineligibility is sent to the applicant. The Complete column will be checked and a status code of "U" will display in the Status column on the Student Certifications: List in My Zone. If a student subsequently meets the eligibility criteria (i.e., files a FAFSA, etc.), the Certification can be corrected online and resubmitted via My Zone.
Refer to the Student Certification Entry Instructions to learn about submitting a certification, obtain a complete list of the status codes returned after a certification record is processed and making corrections before and after a record has been qualified.
Certification
TESP Initial Certification records for the 2010-11 academic year can be completed online and submitted electronically to ISAC via My Zone beginning April 6, 2010. My Zone is available to enter certification information each Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (CT). Results are available in real-time. No changes were made to the IFTC or MTI certification process for the 2010-11 academic year.
An Initial Certification record is created in My Zone when the student’s TESP Application is complete. All Initial Certifications available in My Zone must be completed regardless of whether the school certifies a student as eligible or ineligible. The only way an applicant will receive one of the Notification letters is if the Initial Certification is submitted via My Zone.
Only applicants with complete and eligible certification records will be considered for awards. Be sure to continue completing and submitting Initial Certifications throughout the year, in order to ensure that your students will be included in any subsequent rounds of awarding that might take place.
An overview of the online Certification process, instructions to enter and submit certifications to ISAC and how to request a report can be found in the TESP Certification area of My Zone. An overview of the certification process for the IFTC Program and the MTI Scholarship Program is also provided within each program in the Gift Assistance area at College Zone.
Application
The volume of 2010-11 Teacher Education Scholarship Programs qualified applicants exceeds the available funding for awards. Consequently, ISAC is no longer accepting applications for these programs as of July 26, 2010. Qualified applicants will be notified of the awarding results in August 2010.
Refer to the IFTC and MTI Program News pages within the Gift Assistance area at the College Zone for the latest information regarding these programs.
